Apple's cheapest and newest smartphone, iPhone XR, officially launched today, whilst users are hands-on this device, iFixit also picked up one, and as always, they did a traditional teardown that designed to find out what's inside the $749 handsets and specs info.
iFixt says though the inside is little different from the high-end iPhone XS, the specs look quite familiar. The difference is that the SIM tray in the iPhone XR is modular and lower, the internals of the Xr looks like a cross between an iPhone 8 and an iPhone X, meaning it backs to a rectangular battery and a logic board design.
Spec wise, it pretty much identical to the iPhone XS series, with an A12 Bionic chip, an Apple/USI 339S00580 WiFi/Bluetooth module, an NXP 100VB27 NFC controller, same 7MP TrueDepth front-facing camera system with Face ID molecules, same single-lens 12MP camera but packed with 3GB of RAM rather than 4GB of RAM in the iPhone XS, low resolution Liquid Retina LCD display with 326 PPi, and a 2942mAh battery capacity.
Updates:, the teardown has completed, so iFixit calls iPhone XR as the Lost Of iPhone 9, meaning it's mix of between last year's iPhone 8 and iPhone X, they further confirm that the device has a same wide-angle camera as on the XS. At last, the site highlights that even though XR battery weighs lighter than the XS, still very respectable for a low pixel screen.
